Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do was founded by PJ Steyer on
September 22nd, 2001. Not just any martial arts school, BCSBD is a
certified Moo Duk Kwan studio whose mission is to work towards human
development and peace on personal, community, and worldwide levels.

On the personal level, we follow the philosopy of "Neh Kang
Weh Yu," Strong Inside, Gentle Outside. We train in an atmosphere of
strong discipline so that we may best learn to understand and control
in ourselves the serious power of our art and our minds. We stress self
DEFENSE, not offense, and we are not competition-focused, (although we
do offer the opportunity to participate in such events).
On a community level, Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do is committed
to social action, specifically the reduction and prevention of violence,
and the promotion of inter-cultural awareness. Our aim is to help men,
women, children, and people with special needs of all ages and ability
levels to grow and develop in a positive manner, as is stated in the Soo
Bahk Do Student Creed.

The Student Creed
|
|
I intend to develop myself in a positive
manner, and to avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth
or physical health.
I intend to develop my self-discipline in order
to bring out the best in myself and others.
I intend to use what I learn in class constructively
and defensively, to help myself and my fellow man, and never to be
abusive or offensive.

|
|
Worldwide, as a part of the Moo Duk Kwan, we are directly
involved in "Mission 2000," our international effort towards World
Peace by improving human relations through the practice of Soo Bahk Do.
