Soo Bahk Do

The Soo Bahk Do system is a classical Korean martial art with historical roots that date back thousands of years. As a "classical" martial art, its purpose is "to develop every aspect of the self in order to create a mature human being who totally integrates intellect, body, emotions, and spirit." It is both a highly effective self-defense system and a beautiful, traditional artform. It is a balanced, hard-soft style based on the philosophy of No Ja (Lao-Tzu), with something to offer everyone. Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do offers internationally certified master-level Soo Bahk Do instruction in an exciting, challenging, supportive, and safe atmosphere.

The Moo Duk Kwan

The Moo Duk Kwan school, or Martial Virtue Institute, is an international non-profit martial arts education institute. Founded in 1945 in Seoul, it is one of the oldest organizations of its kind, and it is the only organization that legitimately teaches the art of Soo Bahk Do. The Moo Duk Kwan school was founded on the philosophy of Gong Bu Ja (Confucius) and the ideals of "Moo Do," both of which require the qualities of honor, discipline, and respect. The Moo Duk Kwan organization has certified approximately 200 schools in the United States, and Boston Classical Soo Bahk Do is one of these schools.
